Age of Accountability For The Nation's Actions (According To The Bible)

The age of accountability for actions of the nation in the bible was 20 years as can be seen in Yahweh's instructions (Torah)

In Ancient Israel, the tax was only to be paid by those over age 20:

Exodus 38:26  A bekah for every man, that is, half a shekel, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for every one that went to be numbered, from twenty years old and upward, for six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty men.

Only those over age 20 was to go to war:

Numbers 1

2  Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;
3  From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

Those under age 20 were not held accountable for the national rebellion against Yahweh and were allowed to enter the Promised Land after the forty years of wandering.  Yahweh did not hold those under age 20 accountable for the nation not trusting Him.

Numbers 32:11  Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

Those that believed the fallacy that a "generation is forty years because that is how long Ancient Israel wandered in the wilderness" clearly were parroting a quote from a book and had not read the bible for their self.  If they had read the bible and not a prophecy book they would have seen that was an un-biblical statement to sell books.  This fallacy was parroted by "bible teachers" (and others) for decades (and it still may be by some)

It is clear from scripture that Yahweh did not consider those under age 20 accountable to pay taxes, did not allow those under age 20 to go to war, and did not hold those under age 20 responsible for the rebellion of the nation.

Other places in scripture holds those under age 20 accountable for their individual actions but they clearly were not held accountable for national rebellion.  This is interesting in that "science" has determined the brain is not fully mature until about age 20-25:

Those who use children to carry out their rebellion against Yahweh (politics as well as religious) will suffer a worse penalty for misleading children.  Yahweh takes a great offense when children are abused, are used in carrying out political agendas, or are used in rebellion against Him.

Matthew 18
4  Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5  And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
6  But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
